MILLERCAT Catalytic Converter Shield / Anti-Theft Guard – 2003-2011 Honda Element

The Honda Element Cat Shield™ is the most advanced, comprehensive, and convenient protection device for your Honda Element. Completely made from 304 stainless steel, it is a two piece design that allows maximum protection from thieves and allows the heat from the converter to escape and not trap it inside a shield. The shield is secured with tamper-proof screws, which allows the shield to be removed for maintenance but secure from thieves.

– Miller CAT provides the option for faster shipping but is only a pass through for any charges. We do not make any money off of this service.

– If you live in California or the West Coast, you may not need that expedited shipping. UPS ground can reach your destination in one to two days.

If you wish to make an international purchase please contact us at info@millercat.com. By default we only ship to a few international destinations. Please be aware that there may be significant fees for you (the buyer) must pay when you receive the product.

Value Added Taxes (VAT) and import duties are some of the fees that your country will impose on your purchase. We do not know what these fees are and they are solely managed and determined by your customs office.

We have a 90 day manufacturers warranty against defects from the manufacturing process. This covers issues that prevent the proper installation or performance of the product.

Cosmetic imperfections that occur either from the manufacturing or shipping process are not covered. We do not manufacture a cosmetic product or ones designed for show. Any undercar product will quickly have scratches and scuffs due to the location of the product and proximity to the road. Click here to find out more about the manufacturing process and what you might expect from your product.

We do NOT guarantee our product against theft. Cat Shields are a deterrence device that is meant to discourage theft and/or make it more difficult for thieves to steal your converter. Given the right tools, technique or time, a thief can still take your converter. However, by having a shield, you are significantly increasing your protection against theft. Similar to a car or home alarm, you are making thieves second guess themselves and consider moving onto another target. Deterrence works and we have countless customer accounts and video evidence that converter theft stopped (for those with repeated theft) or thieves looked and moved on to other vehicles.

There is a 30 day return policy window for unused products. Please visit this link for more information.

*We do ask that customers carefully make their purchases and reduce the possibility of returns as much as possible. Help us reduce the carbon footprint of these shields as they are large and expensive to ship.

Fits all 2003-2011 Honda Elements with an OEM converter.

One of the most innovative crossover SUVs of its time, the Honda Element combines features of both an SUV and a truck, all in a compact ride that is as fun as it is functional. With sales approximating 325,000, it isn’t as common as other targets, but its valuable catalytic converter puts it squarely on the list of high-value models for thieves.

It’s efficient engine and low emissions means that the Honda Element’s catalytic converter has more of the precious metals criminals are after. Due to its smaller production runs, the Honda Element doesn’t often make the list of ‘top catalytic converter thefts by make and model’, but whenever a crook sees it, they know they’ve struck gold (literally) if the vehicle does not have proper catalytic converter protection.

*At this time the shields do not fit with side steps unless the extended bracket is removed. Comes with front and rear shields, installation hardware, tamper-proof screw kit, Cat Shield Protected sticker, and detailed installation guide.

Cat theft deterrent

In hindsight I wish I’d purchased a Cat Shield prior to my original catalytic converter being stolen in broad daylight three weeks ago.
I’d heard from a friend that cat thieves had stolen the cat from under his son’s Honda Element overnight, whilst parked on his driveway.
While thieves may still attempt to make an easy living off someone else’s possessions this high quality stainless steel Cat Shield will at least give those who’ll risk a 60 second heist attempt to reconsider.
The Cat Shield was straightforward in instructions and installation. It’s well designed, very well constructed and everything lines up exactly as promised. The stainless steel should at least blunt multiple sawzall blades before giving up the protection of one’s existing catalytic converter.
I believe this is a very worthwhile investment given that my Element is often parked at the airport for several days.

VERY well made!

Bought this product after my OE converter was cut off of my 04 Element for the second time. After installing the shield, I can say that I was very impressed with the quality of the construction, the hardware included and the instructions. I work at Honda Dealership and we see numerous converters cut off of our customers’ cars. We recommend this product when applicable and now we have a personal testimony to go with our recommendation! Definitely a great additional level of security.

Yep, you can remove it (but it is not easy...which is a good thing)

My first cat was stolen from my Honda Element in 2013 and I thought it was just a fluke. $1500 later it was replaced. Then in 2021 it happened again, this time right outside my house. I had to laugh when I started it the morning after, but it wasn’t so funny when the dealer installed a new cat and exhaust for $5500 (yep, no OEM cats to be had in spring of 2021, but they somehow found one last one ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) A couple of days later I took the E to a muffler shop and had them install the Miller shield. Unfortunately, after an odd fender bender last week, I had to remove the cat shield. I spent most of an afternoon on a creeper unbolting each part. On the upside, it took a long time with the car jacked up but I got it off, on the downside a couple of the security bolt heads stripped while untightening them. At the time it didn’t seem like an awesome feature because I had to carefully drill out the heads (an easy-out extractor defeated me) but I realized later that if you own the car you’ll take the time to carefully remove the shield, but a thief won’t bother to take that much time and just move on. Would definitely purchase another one if I get another Element.

This shield was engineered and thought out to the highest standards. Unlike others gaining access to the torx bits would cause fits for any theft.

Great Product

I installed this after our catalytic converter was cut out. The Honda dealer had to replace the upstream pipe and the downstream muffler and resonator. The MillerCat shield is a great fit, but I would buy two new rubber hangers next time so we don’t get a rattle at engine startup. MillerCat sells the hangers but I didn’t appreciate what it was for at the time I made the purchase. I’m very happy with this product. The steel is thick and the fasteners are tough. I’d buy it again.

For the most part it fit. Minor adjustment on the front section to clear the pipe.

Well built but des not fit on after market cats. I had to fadricate it by welding it. The oem cats are longer. The return policy is great. I could of returned it within 30 days, but did some fabrication instead

Highly Recommended

I doubt there is a better engineered cat shield available, and I can’t imagine there is a cat thief stupid enough to try to cut a cat out when they see this one.
Pros:
– Fast delivery.
– Cover leaves plenty of room for heat to dissipate from converter. I looked at other brands with louvers and holes and thought, “That ain’t gonna work.” This is too important to ignore. Converter heat soak even when idling has caused fires or cat damage.
– Stainless steel. No scrimping on material.
– Excellent hardware included.
– Optional exhaust hanger. I recommend this for any installation. MillerCat should just include it with every shield.
– No noticeable increase in noise. I was very happy about this, as another reviewer said there was more noise. I’m thinking they had a rattle due to installation problems – I’ll address that in my “Cons” and tips below.
– Installation instructions can be confusing the first time, but these were good enough. I’m putting it in the “Pros” list because I didn’t need to contact MillerCat for explanation of anything.
Cons:
– I had to lengthen one slot in the front cover to match up with the mounting hole on the car – at the O2 sensor cable bracket.
– Hardware pack was short one stainless steel fender washer. No big deal but my local hardware store doesn’t have them in stainless.

Tips:
– If you’ve never done something like this, hire someone. It’s not impossible for a novice, but I made a career out of doing things for people that they can’t do, and I know nearly all of my customers wouldn’t have the tools or skill to do it. If you work on your own cars, you can probably handle this.
– Print out the instructions in color from MillerCat’s website. It’s much easier to understand the pictures in color.
– Ask your installer if they have the thread insert rivet tool, and a plasma cutter or die grinder in case they need to enlarge a hole like I mentioned I did. One reviewer mentioned their installer didn’t have a plasma cutter and they ended up with a rattle. This could be they left that bolt out.
– Be safe working under the car.

It shipped the day I ordered it and arrived the next day. It is installed and I feel so much more secure.

Looks pretty good

While I know nothing is completely theft proof, I do think this will be quite a deterrent. If nothing else, it’s going to slow them down considerably and give me enough time to do what I need to do *wink wink. The car is just a little bit louder now, sort of like a reverb or echo under the car, but nothing I can’t live with.

Great Security Shield

My mechanic said it was the best design he’s seen yet.👍 It rattles a bit sometimes but I need some mounts replaced so isn’t the shield. My Cat is intact so…so far so good!🤞

Fingers Crossed!!!

I had my MillerCat installed by the Honda dealership after my catalytic converter was stolen by thieves last month. It looks great and like it might be a deterrent, I hear a lot of mixed thoughts on this topic, catalytic converter theft is very hot in my area right now so only time will tell. There is a distinct deep rattle in the low gears and when under load as when going up hills. This is in spite of purchasing the correct Millercat for my Honda element and having it professionally installed.

Excellent service and hopefully excellent product!

Our MillerCat Honda Element Cat Shield arrived very quickly. We had a local auto shop do the installation. They said it was a bear to install and it took them 3 hours. There is no rattling or noise after installation. It looks like a deterrent to me. If I were a thief, I’d move on. I am very happy with our purchase. It offers peace of mind. And I feel certain it will save us time and money not dealing with a theft. We were lucky to have this done before experiencing a cc theft. Grateful for MillerCat.

Cool Concept

Fingers crossed! Had my Cat stolen about a month ago. I ordered the Cat Shield and it came very quickly, which was a relief. I needed to get it installed before a road trip the very next week. So far so good. I have been driving with the shield installed for three weeks now (Honda Element). The garage that installed it assured me they would do adjustments if there was rattle or excessive noise. It’s been fine. I haven’t had to come back and make any changes. I know it’s not a guarantee, but it makes me feel a little better having it there.

Glad you're there

We haven’t used Millercat shield yet; the catalytic converter is being replaced and the exhaust system repaired today. We’re having the shield installed, delighted to have some kind of protection so we’ll let you know if it works.
