We have a 90 day manufacturers warranty against defects from the manufacturing process. This covers issues that prevent the proper installation or performance of the product.
Cosmetic imperfections that occur either from the manufacturing or shipping process are not covered. We do not manufacture a cosmetic product or ones designed for show. Any undercar product will quickly have scratches and scuffs due to the location of the product and proximity to the road. We do NOT guarantee our product against theft. Cat Shields are a deterrence device that is meant to discourage theft and/or make it more difficult for thieves to steal your converter. Given the right tools, technique or time, a thief can still take your converter. However, by having a shield, you are significantly increasing your protection against theft. Similar to a car or home alarm, you are making thieves second guess themselves and consider moving onto another target. Deterrence works and we have countless customer accounts and video evidence that converter theft stopped (for those with repeated theft) or thieves looked and moved on to other vehicles.

I was not positive on whether to jack up the front or the rear of our 2015 Prius V. I contacted customer service. Within hours I received a phone call from a company rep right here in the USA who was quite helpful and told me and THEN sent a detailed diagram on jacking up the car. The printed instructions with the shield were first rate – follow them scrupulously – and the shield went in as easily as anything a 76 year old can do by himself while lying on his back in his driveway. The service was on a par with Eddie Bauer, Patagonia and other absolutely top tier (and rare) retailers. I can’t say enough about how good the experience was.
Incidentally, I spent the extra $30 for the “special” fastening hardware – it is well-made and the “fit” is obviously custom meaning bad guys who try to unscrew it cannot just go to the hardware store and buy the bits to take it apart. The stainless unit itself looks like it will be quite resistant to a Sawzall.

This arrived very quickly and installed fairly easily, even without the exact right tools. I was able to do it in a couple lazy hours, with the car on a lift. One of the holes in the shield wasn’t fully punched out when it arrived but I was able to fix that with a hammer. And the instructions included a few steps that must have been for a different model or revision. But all told it’s very straightforward to install and a great fit. Hope it is an effective deterrent!
Well, I finally had the shield professionally installed at my local garage. There hasn’t been a rash of cat thefts here in Denver and I park my car nightly in a locked garage, but I thought that it might be a good idea anyway to purchase one and have it installed. The package came very quickly after I ordered it complete with the shield, specifically for my 2013 Prius V, screws and fasteners, and instructions.
I had to wait almost two months for an appointment to have it professionally installed. One garage wanted $280 which I thought was excessive. I took it this morning to my appointment and left the car there around 8:15 am. The called me about 2:00 p.m. and told me the car is done. They wound up charging me about $125 which I thought was reasonable.
I can’t quite see it under the car but I trust their workmanship. One day, when the car is on the lift, I will have the opportunity to better see the installation of the unit. But I can say that it most likely fit perfectly as I had no complaints from the garage. The car seems to drive slightly quieter but maybe that is my imagination.
I’ve heard the horror stories about cat thefts. People go to start their cars and then the cars make a loud noise and the check engine light comes on. The owners then get shocked when they found out that it costs about $2,000 to replace the converter. They then turn it into a claim on their insurance policies which then the insurance company demands that they use, in this case, original Toyota parts. The kick is that due to the pandemic, these parts are on back order and who knows when they will arrive? Here in Colorado, one can’t use aftermarket converters unless they are something called “CARB compliant”, which raises the price to about that of the original Toyota part. So then the car has to sit there until the parts arrive. The insurance company then frequently offers to settle to close the claim, sometimes “totaling” out the vehicle. So what you have left is a perfectly good 2005-2010 Toyota Prius, for example, with just a single missing part. How could you replace the car for what they are willing to pay? So then comes a more expensive car with car payments, and that’s if you can find a replacement vehicle at somewhat of a reasonable price that doesn’t require a lot of maintenance and repairs! So, by comparison, the $285 looks cheap, for the purchase and installation of this product, if it encourages a potential thief to move on to an easier target!
So that is my review. I am very satisfied with this product and I think that it is worth the hassle of getting it installed.
I hope that it helps people see the need for the purchase and installation of this shield as a proactive measure against theft.
With the uptick in “Cat” thefts in my area, I’m very relieved that mine is protected with your Cat Shield. I just hope a very determined thief doesn’t destroy it to get to my Cat. I also used my printer to copy your alert label by 165%, and colored the shield part orange, and the rectangular outside edge yellow so the six labels I placed in front, side and rear windows are more visible. I couldn’t attach a picture of one to this review. Thanks for an excellent product. Bill
